Hear the Fear!

Seventh Star Press is proud to announce our very first audio book release, the #1 bestselling horror novel Cinema of Shadows by award-winning author Michael West!

Narrated by Nila Brereton Hagood, this new audio book version brings the story to life in a way that readers will definitely want to experience again and again!

Synopsis of Cinema of Shadows:

Welcome to the Woodfield Movie Palace.

The night the Titanic sank, it opened for business…and its builder died in his chair. In the 1950s, there was a fire; a balcony full of people burned to death. And years later, when it became the scene of one of Harmony, Indiana’s most notorious murders, it closed for good. Abandoned, sealed, locked up tight…until now.

Tonight, Professor Geoffrey Burke and his Parapsychology students have come to the Woodfield in search of evidence, hoping to find irrefutable proof of a haunting. Instead, they will discover that, in this theater, the terrors are not confined to the screen.

Cinema of Shadows is one of the growing Harmony, Indiana collection of horror tales from Michael West that also includes Spook House and The Wide Game.

Hades’ disciples need only to recover the two remaining crystal skulls — ancient vessels of indescribable power — and their dark quest to return the vanquished gods to earth will be all but complete. To save civilization as we know it, Earl must rise to confront his greatest challenge yet, but this is a fight he cannot win alone.

Trapped inside an alien environment, Alan Everson and Kari Hannigan must put aside their differences and work together to help a gravely injured Carol Miyagi — a woman they both claim to love. Theirs is a journey to discover the secret of life itself. And they may not like what they find.

Zeus’ Warriors is the third book in the Legacy of the Gods series.

Cover Reveal for the Re-Issue of Michael West Novel The Wide Game!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the new cover art from the award-winning Matthew Perry for the re-issue of Michael West’s The Wide Game, a Harmony, Indiana Novel!

The 2nd edition of The Wide Game was edited by Amanda DeBord and joins other novels from West such as Cinema of Shadows and Spook House in taking horror fans into the fascinating and often dangerous realm of Harmony, Indiana.

In The Wide Game, Paul Rice, on the advice of his wife, is making plans to attend his 10th year High School reunion.  Returning to his boyhood home of Harmony, Indiana, he finds that he is still haunted by memories of that time–memories of Deidra, his first love, and memories of the Wide Game.  It was ten years ago that Paul and his friends watched their day of fun become a race for their lives, a fight for their very souls.

Now, as he meets the survivors of that day once more, Paul makes a chilling discovery: the incomprehensible forces that toyed with them have yet to finish playing their own game.

Originally published in trade paperback by Graveside Tales, The Wide Game was the first Harmony, Indiana novel released, but has never before been made available in hardcover and eBook formats.  Michael recently commented on the re-release, and the expanded availability in more formats.

The Wide Game was my first novel, and it holds a special place in my heart and the hearts of all my faithful readers everywhere.  This is something they have been requesting for years!  Not a day goes by without messages and emails asking me when The Wide Game would be available as an eBook.  Still others have asked if it would ever be available in hardcover.  I am thrilled that Seventh Star Press will now be offering the work in both formats, and I hope that even more readers will now get to see how the Harmony, Indiana series all began.”

Michael is the critically-acclaimed author of Cinema of Shadows, Spook House, Skull Full of Kisses, and The Legacy of the Gods series. He lives and works in the Indianapolis area with his wife, their two children, their bird, Rodan, their turtle, Gamera, and their dog, King Seesar.

He has made certain there are no cornfields near his home.

The Wide Game will be released in trade paperback and eBook formats during the beginning of June, with a limited edition hardcover to follow. Cinema of Shadows Is “One Helluva Scary Trip!”

Cinema of Shadows Kindle

The Dolls of Despair have posted a review of my Harmony, Indiana novel, Cinema of Shadows, and they love it!  Here’s an excerpt:

“The story is brilliantly written by West…wonderfully original.  West has written a fun, quick-paced thrill of a haunting with (the) most believable characters; each one bringing their own story to the overarching one in a nice blend of reality mixed with ghosts and one real nasty demon.  He writes in a superbly elegant way, almost lyrical at times, while scaring the crap out of the reader. I actually read this book very late at night, and found myself jumping at the usual creaks and groans of an old house; hmmmm…or could it be that while reading this a few haints decided to materialize perhaps encouraged by West’s story?  I’m not sure, but I do know that this book is very difficult to simply put down and definitely not one to forget.  His creative, artistic style ‘paints’ one helluva scary trip.”

Cinema of Shadows “Doesn’t Disappoint In Any Way!”

Cinema of Shadows Kindle

Mike’s Film Talk just posted a glowing new review of my Harmony, Indiana novel, Cinema of Shadows, giving it 5 Stars!  Here is an excerpt:

“Stephen King, James Herbert, Richard Laymon, Ramsey Campbell, Peter Straub, and maybe one or two more make up my ‘horror stable.’ I’ve now added Michael West to this small very talented group of writers who have the ability to entertain the hell out of me…The book is fast paced and the story made me think of Straub’s ‘possessed’ movie theatre in Ghost Story but more in-depth and a damn sight scarier…With a minimum of muss and fuss West has come up with characters that I liked.  More importantly, I believed their assorted back stories and I could empathise with all of them.  He also does a brilliant job with the dialogue of each character.  Very few authors have the knack for making the people in their stories sound real.  Michael West has a ‘good ear’ and he has the knack of making their speeches and conversation sound natural and real.  Cinema of Shadows was an excellent introduction to a new author and he is now a member of my small stable of writers who can deliver not only scares but stories that carry you away.”
